What I’ve Done
CONDUCTING
Mike is currently the Associate Conductor of the Toronto Chinese Orchestra and leads the Toronto Chinese Community Orchestra (TCCO). He is also the associate conductor of the Canadian Chinese Orchestra. He has previously worked with cadet bands and led band workshops in the GTA.
SHENG
Mike has been interested in the sheng since starting TCO in 2022. He started on the alto sheng, but quickly learned the soprano keyed sheng and the traditional 21, 24, and 37 reed sheng.
In addition to performing solos, he is actively involved in small ensembles and initiatives to promote Chinese music in the GTA.
His instruments of choice are the 42-key soprano sheng from ZhaoJiaZheng and the 37-reed Shanghai sheng from WangZeShuang.

Mike completed his MT program at OISE in 2023 and has been working in secondary schools within the TDSB.
FREELANCE MUSICIAN
Mike is an active gigging musician in the GTA. He has played with the Kindred Spirits Orchestra, CPO, and UTSO among others. Mike also teaches low-brass clinics for public schools across Ontario.
